Remembering Jane Goodall
I as many know had worked with Jane on a number of projects she asked me to help with. We had some differences but we had some great conversations and I respect Janes life and efforts to make it a better place. This video is the Jane I knew.
I honestly am not into the Barbie doll made to look like her nor truthfully was she into that either. But she, per our conversations, understood she had to play the game. She was not missing a beat of the game but she knew where her voice was carried and she mostly planted efforts in the USA. I honestly think she thought we were not just the most broken but where she might be able to help us get things right.
She certainly had the balls of most political leaders and she knew it. I for sure learned from her and others that also played roles in making the world better that have since passed away.
This video below to me is the best post on Jane I have seen since her passing- it is clear she is speaking about the end of life. Those that had been closer with her just weeks before her passing shared with me that same sentiment and spirit from her when they last saw her. Common friends that knew Jane way better than I and were much much closer to her- I have messaged and reached out to several of them and they lost a true hero in their life. I feel for them for the loss.
For me I had struggles as she did with some NGO mentalities and the corporate play of such NGO's - some stories I would love to share but not much value in at this time. Let us instead honor her for where she made a difference.
I am going to close with something she and I had differences in and honestly not so much her other than just her age and the times she was being a leader. She made huge strides for women. No question. She broke barriers that had not been broken- she changed things for sure. My biggest difference was she was slow to adjust to the changing times of being white and creating space for Africans that were also making huge strides. The story sadly often did not include the people of Africa. This is not Jane as much as some of her handlers. But the truth is it was a huge setback for strides that could have been stronger in Kenya for one but my guess is all of the African countries she held space in.
To me it was not Jane- it was again those handling her that simply did not see that damage or, in some cases, with intent choose not to see it and blocked those that spoke of it. We had conversations about it. She was fine and heard it but even she spoke that her team would have issues cause they don't see it.
For me this does not take away from her huge dedication but I just wish we could have overcome the small step it would have taken to have included all people that are part of this planet.
But I ask now if we can work to do that. Again in no way is this a negative towards Jane. I am simply doing what Jane would do and did do with her voice on things she was able to speak out on.
Hugs to all that have lost a hero- and yes let’s carry her words forward. I for one would love to see those parasites on a rocket ship blasted off to another universe. I am so happy to have had this feed pop up per I was hoping for such a closing statement from her and she did it (of course she did).
Cheers to Jane and one thing I can say I had many whiskies with her and not once did she pay and got me the cheapest of cheap to always pay for them. I loved her for that…
