So we wanted to share a bit more on just what is "House of Friends -Cincinnati". So without saying to much let this sink in. 

We have wanted a more visible base and sustainable way to have Child Wellness Fund’s effort of House of Friends to have a  stateside existence. A way to carry out the good things we do in Kenya and to share more about those efforts closer to my USA home. 

An opportunity came out of nowhere and we took the chance and acted fast to launch the idea. Something I had dreamed of but honestly did not know would really materialize this year but things work that way. It works that way per we are focused and committed to the actions.

House of Friends -Cincinnati, located in the College Hill area will be actively building and growing much of the same efforts seen in Kenya. People might say why do we need those efforts here?  Well I think it is clear we need all the help we can get to make this a better world and to be aware of the demons and more so look for the good and understand how to act on it when we see it. 

Look for first of all a collaborative art project of what we have dubbed “Patina” - the artistically reworking a more nearly 150 year old forgotten farm house and making it sing and shine showing its old bones and scares. Sharing its beauty and welcoming “friends”  old and new to come in her warmth and enjoy: makers workshops, community conversations, creative studio time, art openings in the gallery, pop up retail events of art, antiques and vintage finds. Just to name a few plans and there are plenty.

Stay tuned and we will share how to keep up to date and join us for a pre-open house where Patina is still more a corpse than a living and giving space. Date to be shared real soon! We have some really cool ideas to share where everyone can meet Patina and  the newest House of Friends effort.

It is exciting- Mike and I have not dug into dirt, lath and plaster for some time and by the way it still taste the same. Yuck.
